China Glaze Capitol Colours (Hunger Games) Spring 2012 Collection February 28, 2012

I haven’t read The Hunger Games and most likely won’t any time soon but I am loving the nail polishes inspired by the book. These polishes should hit stores March 1st. Apparently Lionsgate teamed up with China Glaze to support the movie that releases March 23rd. According to Lionsgate this collection is inspired “by one of the book’s distinct settings – the Capitol of the nation of Panem. Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.”

As The Hob pointed out, the colors apparently represent what each district is known for:

Luxe and Lush – District 1 (Luxury)
Stone Cold – District 2 (Masonry)
Riveting – District 3 (Technology)
Hook and Line – District 4 (Fishing)
Electrify – District 5 (Power)
Fast Track – District 6 (Transportation)
Mahogany Magic – District 7 (Lumber)
Dress Me Up – District 8 (Textiles)
Harvest Moon – District 9 (Grain)
Foie Gras – District 10 (Livestock)
Agro – District 11 (Agriculture)
Smoke and Ashes – District 12 (Mining)

Check out Scrangie’s swatches of the collection HERE. The swatches look quite different from the above photo.

My favorites are Riveting, Agro, Fast Track, Dress Me Up and Foie Gras. Which ones do you plan on picking up?

My First Jelly Sandwich!! February 24, 2012

I’ve been wanting to try a jelly sandwich for a while now but I only own a couple jelly polishes and a couple chunky glitters. I started with two coats of Guy Meets Gal-Veston followed by two coats of Servin’ Up Sparkle and one more coat of Guy Meets Gal-Veston. I love how it turned out and would really like to pick up some more jelly polishes to try more combos.

Here are a few of my favorite jelly sandwiches from around the blogosphere:

  • Nailin’ it! used NYX Ink and Milani Gems for THIS pretty combo.
  • I love the vibrant orange and the big hex glitters in THIS sandwich from Let Them Have Polish.
  • The shade of blue in THIS Short ‘n Chic jelly sandwich is so pretty.

Have you done a jelly sandwich? If so I would love to see it! Please leave a link below.

I ordered steel micro beads from ebay a few weeks ago and couldn’t wait to try something with them. I kept it simple since it was my first time using these itty bitty beads.

I would highly recommend this seller. They shipped from Hong Kong to US super quick and my micro beads were only $1.49 including shipping.
