I love the gray tones with a hint of glitter in this one.

This one is so pretty with the gold tips and the silver hexagon glitter.

How cute is this tuxedo design!

New Year’s Eve City Skyline With Fireworks! December 28, 2011

Let me know if you want to know any specific color names. There are too many to list all of them! Most of them are from the Fall 2011 Color Club Foiled Collection. Any colors will work, you need some blues for the background, black for the building, white or yellow for the windows and some sparkly shades for the fireworks.

I did an ombre effect with three shades of blue, the darkest near the cuticle. I used a sponge to achieve the ombre look.

I then added black for the buildings and the outline of a clock on my ring finger:

You can shape the buildings any way you want or try to mimic your favorite city’s skyline. Just make sure They go about halfway up your nail. I added a clock but you can just do all buildings if you want.

Then I added the windows and finished the details on the clock. I added spots of glitter for where the fireworks are bursting in the air but on the finished look this step is barely noticeable so it’s up to you if you want to include this step or not. Next time I might just try to spread the glitter out a bit more so it would be more of a background to the fireworks rather than just at the center.

Next I put white where I wanted the fireworks to go so they would really pop against the background. I put the firework colors directly on top of the white and sealed it all with a top coat.

What do you plan on wearing on your nails while you ring in the new year?

You can find my other posts about the Influenster Holiday VoxBox here and here.

This time around I want to share with you the Montagne Jeunesse face mask. Here is what Influenster has to say about the face masks:

Whether you enjoy looking after your skin, being pampered, or indulging in some me-time, be it alone or with friends, you will absolutely enjoy one of these ‘Life Little Pleasures’… With a huge array to choose from, our face masques are packed with the most delicious natural ingredients and are bursting with luscious fragrances. Suitable for all different skin types, there is one to suit every mood and everybody!

Montagne Jeunesse beauty treats are free of parabens, vegetarian approved and never tested on animals. So treat yourself today to a masque that will hydrate, nourish and leave your skin cleansed, smooth and glowing. Available at ULTA Beauty, Walgreen’s, Claire’s, Walmart, Kroger, CVS Pharmacies and other retailers across the US, these masques are available in a variety of succulent flavours, including:

    • Cucumber Peel Off
    • Passion Peel Off
    • Dead Sea Mud
    • Fruit Smoothie
    • Strawberry Souffle
    • Chocolate Mud
    • And many more!

I love that their products are paraben free and that they don’t test on animals. I also like that they are sold in one use packets because you can buy a bunch of them to have for various skin problems. I received the Dead Sea Mud Pac with kelp and seaweed. The directions say to cleanse your face, rub the product all over, wait 10-15 minutes and rinse off. After doing this my pores seemed slightly tighter and my skin was very soft.

Did you know Mentos makes a sugar-free gum? They do and it’s yummy!

Softsoap has a Coconut Scrub bar soap with crushed coconut extract and gentle exfoliants. I have been using this soap for a couple days now and I really like it. There is no filmy residue left behind like so many bar soaps have. I can’t say that it is particularly exfoliating as I don’t really notice much of an abrasive when using it. I typically buy locally handmade soap and I still prefer that to Softsoap but this is a decent drug store bar soap. I like to make liquid hand soap from bar soaps via this recipe here and it turns out different every time depending on what bar soap you use so I am curious to see how this one will turn out with its “gentle exfoliants”.

imPress Press-On Nails December 26, 2011

Today I would like to share with you another product from the Influenster Holiday VoxBox. In case you missed my last post about Influenster can find it here. In the post I tell you all about Influenster and their VoxBoxes.

The next product from the VoxBox I would like to share with you is the imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails. Here is what Influenster had to say about imPress:

Introducing imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails, the revolutionary way to apply polish! Featuring advanced nail technology, you can get a salon-perfect manicure in seconds – simply peel off, press on, and you’re done. There’s no drying, a killer shine and a manicure that lasts up to a week! And, imPress is so easy to remove, you can change it up to match your mood as often as you want. Check out all 36 colors and patterns, including trendy brights, classic darks and animal prints. With imPress, your nails will always be your best accessory.

imPress Manicure retails for $5.99 for colors and $7.99 for patterns, and is available at CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart and more. For a full list of online and in-store retailers, visit, where you can download an exclusive coupon and virtually try on all the colors and patterns!

I was actually really excited to try these. They offer all sorts of fun colors and designs. I got the Ecstatic Cling color which is a neon pink. I was really hoping for one of the pretty designs like Holla which is a lace pattern or WinkWink which is a nude nail with floral tips. They are packaged in a cute little nail polish bottle and Influenster included  a $1 off coupon in the VoxBox.

I was not impressed with imPress! The sizing was just all wrong for me. They are very short so if you have shorter nail beds or don’t mind filing your nails down to nubs they might work. They were also too narrow for me. The nails taper up toward the tip and since they are so short the tapering starts half way up my nail bed so around the top you can see a huge chunk of my natural nail all around the imPress nail. They also didn’t lay completely flat against the tips of my nails so I can see running my fingers through my hair being a big hazard!

I imagine these would be really good for nail biters to help grow out their natural nails.

imPress Nails are supposed to last up to a week. I can’t say for sure that this is true since I’m unable to really test them. I only had the one nail on long enough to snap these pix but when I took it off it was adhered pretty good. It took off a thin layer of part of my nail so I would recommend removing them with nail polish remover around the edges rather than just pulling.

There is a display at Walgreens that has a $1 off coupon and a wheel of the different sizes. If you are thinking about trying these I would highly recommend you find one of these displays to see if they will fit your nails
